Swedish based Anonine has been around since 2009 and are in the very niche market of only offering a Swedish VPN connection which has plenty of pros but also some cons.

Anonine on the whole is a pretty good company for the services it wishes to provide with plenty of ticks in the security and speed areas but a slight let down in the other categories. Read the review to find out if this niche market is what you have been looking for.

Pricing & Plans

Like nearly every other VPN provider out there Anonine provides you with the same set plan but with increased price discounts given if you sign up for a longer period of time. Their cheapest – 12 month – plan is $5.43/month which puts it’s pricing in the average category. Unfortunately there is neither a money back guarantee or a free trial.

With Anonine there is no boasting about number of servers/ countries/ etc. because as we mentioned there is only the one – Sweden. This is great news for security and it also allows you to carry out actions such as P2P which is strictly banned on almost all other providers. Being fairly young there is still plenty of improvements that they can make but they say these are in the process so hopefully they will get a lot better in the near future (within a month).

Security & Privacy

Anonine allows both OpenVPN and PPTP encryption mechanisms which is good news and these use 256 and 128 bit respectively. They use Dynamic Dedicated IPs which is good news and unlike many providers they regularly replace their stack of IP addresses with new ones to provide an extra level of protection. They collect absolutely no personal information (unless required for payment) which is another great bonus though a slight shame that they don’t accept BitCoin in sight of this.

Being Swedish based in a fantastic bonus point for this company as there are very little laws for VPNs and they aren’t required to log in any matter and the country has been known for their internet and freedom concerns hence so many companies are based there i.e. The Pirate Bay. You can read more about Sweden and VPNs here.

They have a good ToS but unfortunately no Privacy Policy but all relevant information can found across the website. They take pride in the fact that they do not collect any personal information and the only logs they keep are basic connection logs and even these are only stored for an hour.

The website

The Anonine website is pretty straight forward no useless or annoying fancy animations and most of the information that you could require a click away. It does however have a few bugs here and there and we wish they would keep a blog and/or their social media more updated but these do not impact on the service they provide.

Being a small company there is only a Ticket Support system and this isn’t fast in anyway as they claim they prefer quality over quantity and as a small company they can’t provide both.

The Process

Signing Up

Signing up is straight forward like with most provider but as mentioned they require no personal information (except for payment) which is a good thing.

The Windows VPN client

The most annoying fact about Anonine is that they do not have any of their own software and the set-up of PPTP differs from OpenVPN making it a bit more difficult then it really needs to be. For OpenVPN they use the standard OpenVPN Client  and the built in PC settings for PPTP which is pretty usual in these cases.

Performance (Speed, DNS and IP Test)

We carried out our three primary tests as usual. We had no problems with the IP test and the DNS leak test was exemplary. As shown in the table below their VPN speed tests were great with both encryption types with PPTP showing slightly improved speeds as expected.

Other Platforms

Android, iOS, Linux, etc

Since they do not have any of their own computer software it is no surprise that they do not have any for mobile platforms. However, just like with their desktop platforms they provide a clear setup guide but unfortunately only for PPTP. We gave it a test anyway as some protection is better than none at all and their speeds were great just like on the desktop.
We hope that they will improve their device support in the future.

We liked

  • Great speeds
  • Great Security
  • Based in Sweden
  • No logging

We weren’t so sure about

  • Only Swedish servers
  • Lack of software

We hated

  • No Privacy Policy

    1. Hi Anthony,

Anonine uses the generic open source Tunnelblick client for OpenVPN connections. macOS Sierra (10.12) is very new, so it might be worth trying the latest Beta version of Tunnelblick instead. As Anonone uses third party software that has yet to be updated for macOS Sierra compatibility, this issue is arguably not its fault, pre se., but it should have provided better support and offered a full refund if it could not help you. Bad Anonine.

Finger weg!!!
I can only totally discourage this Provider! They write their positive reviews in the Web itself, totally slow (even slower than some free provider). They offers me via email a 30 day money back trial, but thats not true. They refund nothing. Hands off!!!

Well, I don’t know when this review was put together but anyone who’s been watching the news for the past few years knows that Sweden’s freedom has been compromised.
Just the assault on Julian Assange and the Pirate Bay (and its founders) is enough to confirm this, but there are many more stories.
Sweden has apparently become another puppet of the powers-that-be (the people who’ve hijacked the U.S. government).

It does what a vpn have to do

+ : Never problem with the connection and almost never failure
    – : I have Optical Fiber. Without, i have around a dw 4.25 Mo/s. With Anonine VPn, during the day, max 850ko/s

Great service and support! This is the best VPN provider that I used. Easy setup, no issues, got it running in a few minutes. Support answers to all my numerous questions within 30 minutes each time.

They provide reliable and professional online security services with a great price. Thanks to these guys I am calm as I know that my internet traffic is good encrypted and secure.
