Precio y planes

CyberGhost Windows Client

Me gustó:

  • Servicio gratuito

Cyberghost is not good tried for their 7 day trial, when installed said it had expired. I Mentioned this to Support Team, and they told me that happens if i installed on my pc before, which i havent even been with the vpn provider idiots. Cut long story short i brought this vpn for $11.95 the software took 35 seconds to come on desktop and connecting to server took 45 seconds to connect mostly said server cant connect even though tried servers in my own country n said coudn’t connect, now going through process having my money back as it within 30 day period.
Conclusion: would i recommend them, i certainly would not recommend them at all. Support useless, Software is slow to load (even tho i have a quad core pc 16gb ram) and servers took forever to connect. only positive is there features and they dont keep logs, but i defo wont be going with them again 🙁

    1. Hi Saeed,

All traffic leaving your computer will be protected by the VPN, inducing traffic going to a .Net application. What exactly are you hoping to achieve?

    1. Hi Anonymous,

Yup. Largely because of of our review, CyberGhost has also made a number of other improvements to its service. Watch out for a new review to be published soon.

  1. Dishonest and unreliable! That is my experience with Cyberghost so far. I purchased Cyberghost specifically because they were advertising it to work with Netflix. But it doesn’t work with Netflix. For six months they have had my money, but only tell me to be patient, that they are working on it. I have asked for a fair solution, but none so far. Apparently they just collect money without actually delivering what the customer bought. This is an egregious case of false advertising. Cyberghost, what is your solution?

    1. Hi William,

Hmm. ll I can say is the when I recently re-reviewed CyberGhost (not yet published), I was told up-front that it does not work for Netflix…

    1. Hi Douglas, my issue was the config files did not work with my wrt router. It was tricky. I had no time to troubleshoot further that time so I decided to get another vpn provider. I thought I can’t get a refund anymore after contacting them several times without any response.

But I have to take back my previous comment because after 2 weeks, a friendly support contacted me. I explained my issue and we decided to push for a refund for this time around.

  2. I have CyberGhost Pro and have been informed that ‘Crossrider is an Israeli company listed on the London Stock Exchange but not based in UK’ and this takeover ‘will not change or weaken our privacy policy’.

  3. A big concern for me was finding a tracking cookie from cyberghost on my computer picked up by my hitman pro malware software.

When I queried them – the response was that they used this to send me information.

    Sounds suspicious to me!

Anyone else experience similar? Not sure I trust them – supposed to be no tracking, yet looks like they are tracking my surfing habits.

    1. Hi Warren,

This is, unfortunately, an issue that affects quite a fee VPN services. CyberGhost does not log your VPN sessions, but visits to the website seem fair game.

  4. Extra note:

Thought everyone should see this interesting video between CyberGhost CEO, Robert Knapp, and Crossrider CEO, Ido Erlichman, as they discuss the acquisition:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxDtTQXIHHM

Oddly enough this video only has a mere 428 views?

This is really big news in the VPN industry and it is difficult to say how things will turn out for CyberGhost with a new owner although the fact that Robert Knapp was willing to sell out his company (for big money) should be a potential red flag for us.

Have decided to cancel my subscription and are requesting a refund as I do not trust this acquisition.

    Any thoughts, or, comments?

    1. Hi VPN user,

Thanks for the link. Robert Knapp is a businessman, so selling (out?) his company comes as no surprise to me. For me the biggest concern for me is that Crossrider Lmt. is registered in the UK, which is terrible for privacy. As I understand it CyberGhost will remain a Romanian company, so I have no idea how this works out from a legal/governmnet surveillance perspective.

    2. You will now have to consider all problems the English have regarding privacy. So CyberGhost is severely compromised now since an English company owns CyberGhost.
With the “we are now stronger because we are part of an international team” Robert Knapp is totally off and shows he is not aware of business legal things or got a lot of money to silence him.

Glad I saw the comment and video. Stay away from CyberGhost !!

      1. Hi Anonymous one,

Um… but CyberGhost is not owned by a UK company. It has been acquired by Crossrider. Technically speaking, Crossrider is now based in the Isle of Mann (a tax haven), but its official address remains in Tel Aviv. Although I still have many concerns over Isreal’s close cooperation with the NSA, SaferVPN has done a good job of convincing me tha Israel is not the privacy disaster I had assumed. Please see my SaferVPN Review for more details.

    Douglas,

I am now using the Mac client with at very nicely discounted price for a 2-year subscription (only $69.60 which is a mere $35.00 per year) and although it has a great client interface I do not see the “App Protection” feature that the Windows client has or anywhere to enable a kill switch / firewall or even DNS leak protection? Will have to ask support if these features are already working within the client itself or if they have yet to add them to the Mac client. Otherwise, connections appear to be quite reliable so far although connection speeds are a little slower (as compared to IVPN for example) but do like the sleek looking interface even though I prefer simple clients like IVPN, overall. Also, give a big thumbs up to the live chat support although they are not available 24/7 they did reply late at night and early morning hours when they are online and it coincides with US time as there is a 7 hour differential between Romania and my location. Not sure as to why the Mac client appears to missing the main features mentioned above as I did download the latest version of CyberGhost Pro.

    1. Hi VPN user,

Thanks for this mini-review. In my view CyberGhost is a good service. I have had few issues with support, but the latest speed tests are great (although, yes, IVPN is very fast). DNS leak protection and a kill switch are baked-in to the Windows client, so I would assume the same applies to the Mac client. If you can can’t see the App Protection feature in the Mac client, though, then its probably not there.

  5. I am now confused with your links to the CyberGhost “Pro” website (is that new?) versus the other (older?) site here in the following address with different pricing packages — http://www.cyberghostvpn.com/en_us — as you can see the two sites are different regarding the pricing packages and the “Pro” site has no links for logging into your “account” info? Also, cannot find the “Pro” site (in your link) as it does not appear in a standard Google search. Please clarify …

    1. Hi VPN user,

CyberGhost is currently in the process of re-branding itself, and has requested that all links point towards its new “Pro” website. I think in time CG plans to move its entire operation to the new site (and pricing plan). I agree that the situation is currently somewhat confusing, but as I say, my understanding is that this is a transition phase for CG.

  6. When I traveled in China last year, I found that my paid CyberGhost service was blocked! Apparently other VPNs worked, but it is impossible to search them out unless you read Chinese! Perhaps CyberGhost is too large and well known, or perhaps their Certificate provider is blocked, or China uses another strategy. I was shocked, and very, very disappointed when I could not access Gmail, Google search, or Google Maps, and terminated my paid account. They may not have a way around the problem, as China has an active program blocking Google services. FWIW, to my surprise, late in the trip, I discovered that my iPhone VPN did work, though it drained the battery rather fast. Still, it provided a meager way to access email, and at least some Google search and map capability. You really need a VPN tool to access Google Maps with English street names when in China! The Yahoo map service only provides Chinese-language street and city names; many street signs lack English; and locals will steer you to an expensive taxi or “private car” i.e., their brother-in-law even there’s a cheap and safe subway entrance only a few blocks away!

  7. I’ve finally worked out why my iMac (Sierra) drops internet connection when it wakes up from sleep/screen saver mode. The connection isn’t dropped – it’s locked out by my VPN! Cyberghost (v.6) LOCKS OUT the connection every time, but gives no indication it has done so! Browsers and Mail apps just hang.
On my PC, Cyberghost just disables itself in this situation, but on my new iMac it actively locks the connection! This took a while to work out; lots of Restarts, Router, Bandwidth and Wifi testing, when all the while it was Cyberghost! They say they are producing a patch, but will give no details about when it is coming out. Meanwhile the only solution they give is to manually restart Cyberghost (or the Mac) every time you wake it up! Really??
Until this patch comes out, Cyberghost should either withdraw this VPN for Mac OS Users or warn them before selling.
It’s infuriating and the LiveChat Support actually seems to blame the User for using a Mac! This is absolutely not a plug, play and forget solution – it’s adding extra complication – as such it has no place on a Mac in it’s current form!

    1. Hi D00rsoff,

Thanks for that info. Hopefully it will help stop other Mac CyberGhost users pulling their hair out over this issue! I’ll just note that instructions for manually configuring OpenVPN on a Mac using Tunnelblick are available here.

  8. I just got cyberghost after using several vpn’s that were just too slow. This is by far the fastest one, and easiest to use. My only question is what security standards they use. They don’t state it on there webpage. I think for my needs, I will stay with them, it’s not like I have anything top secret. I just want to protect my privacy and people from selling my information and targeting ads at me and so forth. So until something else comes along, I think this one is the one. I tried PIA, and Nord, Nord has some great features, but slow. PureVPN, is horrible, they claim to be the fastest, well they are not, and I had all kinds of problems connecting. I told them I wanted to cancel and they won’t let me until I talk with customer support to fix the issuse and give them a reason. I don’t owe them a reason the product sucks and it is slow, what else do you want.

  9. Today I came across a thing that extremely shocked me and I am thinking what are the VPN providers that are playing with our privacy. Famous VPN review site vpnmentor states on their CyberGhostVPN review—“CyberGhost (formerly of Romania) was recently acquired by Israeli company Crossrider”.

Is it true. If it is so, then CyberGhost will be like HideMyAss. Mr Douglas Crawford, please assure us about this serious issue.

    1. Hi Redwan,

I’m afraid it’s true. CyberGhost has been accquired by Crossrider. Technically speaking, Crossrider is now based in the Isle of Mann (a tax haven), but its official address remains in Tel Aviv. Israel is an extreme surveillance state with wide-ranging legal powers over Israeli companies. BestVPN.com has been in contact with CyberGhost, who tell us that it will remain a Romanian company.

I am not familiar with Israeli law, but this certainly wouldn’t wash for a US company – all foreign assets of a US company are equally liable under the Patriot Act and FISA. I would seriously doubt Israel has weaker surveillance/security laws. But I am not a lawyer (let alone an expert on Israel’s surveillance laws).

  10. I absolutely love CyberGhost – we’ve been together since i choose to find a free VPN.
Then i came in to the pay’d game. CyberGhost may not be the best, but they’re my favorite.
No logs, good encryption and other cool features makes this VPN so much more than a VPN. Even the free version.

  11. Is the free cyberghost still recommended today? I know they got in some trouble about keeping logs awhile ago, and I also saw some people reporting information leaks with it. I really just use vpns for streaming and maybe a bit of torrents. I don’t want to be with an mistrustful provider.

    1. Hi Blurb,

Note that CyberGhost does not permit torrenting using its free service. CyberGhost has courted controversy of late, and its Android app was given a VirusTotal AV rating of 4 in a recent survey (which means it is riddled with malware). I don’t really know whether these things add up to mean that CyberGhost is in general untrustworthy, but I persoanlly would avoid it.

Hi , I just bought Cyberghost for the only reason of accessing videos in some french websites ( Choosing France as the country for my IP) but it keeps me it is not possible to choose that country because it is in demand. Anyone faced sthg similiar ?? Any workaround ?

    1. Hi PK,

Thanks to the amount of spam we receive, all comments are hand-moderated. I had finished work by the time you posted yours yesterday, but have answered it now.

  12. Hello

I’m using CyberGhost 5.5 free version which did not have malicious website or block ads protection so it is good to use this old version with free service or do i need to stop using CyberGhost and can you tell me some free VPN providers. Thanks

    1. Hi PK,

Sorry if I’m being dim, but I’m not sure I fully understand the problem. Why not simply download the new version (CyberGhost 6)? Pleases see this article for a list of free VPN services.

  13. I am wanting to watch U.S. TV channels while visiting Mexico (Huatulco). I have a Roku but know that I need to have a VPN to hide my Mexico location and make it think I am in the U.S. However, you stated in an earlier reply that an increasing number of online services are blocking VPN users (on copyright grounds). This is usually done simply by blocking IP addresses known to belong to VPN providers.

Will getting a CyberGhost account allow me to use my Roku in Mexico, making it think I am still in the United States?
    Reply

    1. Hi Micheal,

      1. I suspect that CyberGhost is blocked by US Netflix and Hulu. I would suggest using ExpressVPN instead, as I know it works for Netflix. It also offers a 30-day no quibble money guarantee, which gives you the opportunity to test that it works with other the services that you want to access.
      2. Roku’s cannot directly be configured to use VPN. So you can either share a VPN connection from your PC, use a VPN router, or use a Smart DNS service instead (but even this can be tricky). FWIW, a setup guide is available for setting up a Roku using ExpressVPN’s bundled Smart DNS service.

  14. Have been using cyberghost , paid service, for about four months now and have not really run into any trouble. Best way is to choose vpn server that are close to you, preferably in your own country or a country nearby. The speed test I just did confirms that, great results in download upload and ping.

However, if you choose a vpn server on a location far away , say Japan or Canada the results are poor. Unclear what the reasons for this is, maybe the average speed on the network there is much slower than in Europe.

Cyberghost is really the way to go if you are into privacy. Pay over paypal
No logs, top notch. If you have paid service you can also download movies or music over say a Torrent for example , although I rarely do that but if you do it is save as your IP is protected.

    1. Hi VPN Belgium,

Thanks for the input! Just a couple of notes:

      – “Best way is to choose vpn server that are close to you, preferably in your own country or a country nearby.!” – this is not a good idea if you wish to evade surveillance by your own governmnet.
      – You are correct that the closer a VPN server is to your real location, the faster your internet connection will be.
      – Cyberghost is really the way to go if you are into privacy. Pay over paypal – Bitcoins are more private
      – I’ll just note that we prefer to use TestMy.net instead of Ooklas Sppedtest for out tests. Please here for an explanation why.

    1. Hi Tom,

CyberGhost Free is limited in various ways (limited numb er of servers, ads every 90 minutes, disconnect every 3 hours, and limited bandwidth. UK servers are available, however. The limited bandwidth may make streaming from the UK impracticable, however.

  15. CyberGhost never worked properly from day one (Win 7 Home Premium.) Never loaded correctly. Can only use it on one device at a time.
Now that the subscription just ran out, if I use the “free” version, it would seem they are pumping all kinds of trackers and rubbish down the tubes to me. (God bless Super anti spyware!)On the 31 October 2016 I have recorded 1,097 threats over some 4 hrs! Whereas previously there were very very few if any! BEFORE you say ” that shows how good it is.” I’m not using anything except MS Security Essentials and trusty old Super Anti Spyware. Zilch !
Before I go; my older back-up computer had the newer free version on trial. It was a bleeping nightmare. Infected from top to bottom with pop ups and threats. DELETED !
I can’t get in touch with CyberGhost as a non subscriber, so I’m going to see if there is a complaints body I can speak to. I’m sure there are rules about spamming “threats” at users?
    Any suggestions welcom.

  16. Doesn’t really work. Try this if you do not live in the US: Get CyberGhost to give you an IP from the US and then go to the website of one of the TV channels and try to watch something that is usually blocked if you are outside of the US. … It won’t work!
I was running CyberGhost with an IP address in the US (I was in Canada). However, when I went to abc.com to watch a show, they somehow detected that I am outside of the US and a message came up telling me something about international rights and that the video I wanted to watch can only be offered to viewers located within the United States. How is that possible if CyberGhost supposedly gives my an IP from a server in the US??
I contacted CyberGhost about this but received no answer. My only explanation to this is that the the IPs that CyherGhost is supposedly giving you from different countries are either fake or something else is not working as advertised.

    1. Hi Magavara,

A increasing number of online services are blocking VPN users (on copyright grounds). This is usually done simply by blocking IP addresses known to belong to VPN providers. Not all VPN services are affected, and some that are have found ways around the problem. It is , however, becoming an increasingly cat and mouse game.

      1. Hi MarcioV,

Like many VPN services, CyberGhost only permits P2P using some of its servers, and the US is very hostile to copyright infringement. Just to be clear, though – this in no way impacts impacts which torrent files you can download. Torrent files are not stored on servers – they are shared among everyone else downloading or seeding them, which is why torenting is also knows as P2P (peer-to-peer).
