Looking to watch the Oscars online? Let me show you how you can stream the year’s most prestigious awards ceremony!
The 2018 Oscars ceremony will take place on Sunday, 4 March at 6:30 PM EDT (3:30 PM PDT/11:30 PM GMT). The entire event will be broadcast on ABC and will also be available through ABC live streaming. US viewers with a valid cable subscription can stream for free on ABC’s website or through the cord-cutting service, Sling TV.
As a cable subscription is required for ABC Live, I find that Sling TV is the best option out there if you want to watch the Oscars online. Sling TV also has a seven-day free trial available, meaning you can watch the Oscars and other excellent content for a full week without paying a dime!
Unfortunately, both of these streaming services are only available to viewers located in the US. These blocks mean that viewers outside the US will need to use a VPN to change their IP address. Never heard of a VPN before and don’t know how to use one? No worries, just scroll down to see my step-by-step guide to using a VPN to watch the Oscars!
Viewers in the UK also have an additional way of watching the Oscars online, with popular cord-cutting service NOW TV also broadcasting the ceremony. There is a 14-day free trial of NOW TV available, which makes it a great choice if you are only looking for a way to stream the Oscars.
Watch the Oscars Online Using a VPN
Unblocking Sling TV (or ABC Live if you have a US cable subscription) requires an active VPN connection to a US server. NOW TV viewers will need a UK IP address. Read my step-by-step instructions on how to unblock these streaming services to watch the Oscars!
- Choose from our top recommended VPNs or sign up to my personal favorite, ExpressVPN.
- Download and install the VPN software on your internet-connected device.
- Connect to a VPN server that is in the US. Try to get a server that is closest to your actual location for optimal speed.
- Once connected, go to Sling TV and sign up for the one-week free trial. Make sure to select the right channel package with ABC!
- Tune in on 4 March and enjoy watching the Oscars from anywhere!
Looking to watch the Oscars online? ExpressVPN is the best VPN for watching the Oscars. Excellent speeds and lots of US servers are available, so you never have to worry about buffering or availability.
