What’s New to Netflix in February 2018? - Watch US Netflix Anywhere

February is a month of love, romance, friendship and family. With Valentine’s Day looming around the corner, you might be in need of some flicks to watch with your significant other.

Luckily, you won’t be disappointed with Netflix’s February 2018 additions. Even if you plan to spend Valentine’s Day with your friends and family instead, Netflix still has something to offer. With a little bit of action, romance, comedy and adventure on the menu, where can you really go wrong?

Netflix UK

Ella Enchanted – February 1

2004 fantasy romance film Ella Enchanted is the perfect film to watch this Valentine’s Day with your significant other. The movie stars Anne Hathaway and Hugh Dancy, and is based off the 1997 novel written by Gail Carson Levine. The movie is centered around the classic fairytale Cinderella, with a bit of a magical twist.

This movie is a great choice for couples that prefer romantic flicks with a touch of comedy and adventure. Even better, Ella Enchanted is also a great way to keep kids entertained on a cold February weekend or just in general!

When We First Met – February 9

When We First Met is a 2018 romantic comedy film starring Adam DeVine, Alexandra Daddario, Shelley Hennig, Andrew Bachelor and Robbie Amell. This Netflix original film is perfect for a Valentine’s date night with your boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, wife, dog – whoever! Even better: it’s got something for everyone!

The film follows a man named Noah who meets the girl of his dreams, only to spend the next three years wondering why they aren’t together. When he gets the chance to travel back in time to change things, he realizes very quickly that things are not always easy… and sometimes, they aren’t supposed to be.

Irreplaceable You – February 16

If you’re in the mood for a good cry, the movie Irreplaceable You sounds like it might be of interest. Another Netflix original film to be released on February 16, Irreplaceable You tells the story of two soulmates that find their lives crashing down at the announcement of a terminal cancer diagnosis.

Irreplaceable You stars Oxford-born actress Gugulethu Sophia Mbatha-Raw and Game of Throne’s Michiel Huisman. And despite being released two days after Valentine’s Day, you can still enjoy this sappy movie date with your loved one – just remember the hot chocolate, tissue papers and popcorn!

Mute – February 23

Adding to its collection of February 2018 romance movies, Netflix brings Duncan Jones’ Mute to the table. Described as a “spiritual sequel” to Jones’ 2009 film Moon, Mute features Alexander Skarsgård as Leo Beiler – a mute bartender trying to find the love of his life who has mysteriously disappeared.

This film is definitely worth watching, especially for those who have seen Jones’ 09 film Moon. Don’t worry though: seeing Moon is not a requirement. If you’re into love stories with a hue of mystery, this film will definitely be up your alley. Be sure to keep an eye out for it on February 23rd!

American Pie 1 & 2 – February 1

What’s better for Valentine’s Day than a classic teen sex comedy? American Pie 1 & 2 are iconic favorites among teenagers and adults, with the first film released in 1999 and the second in 2001. Despite several sequels released since (that will also be added to Netflix on February 1st), the first two still take the cake in the world of classics.

Both films star actors and actresses like Eugene Levy, Jason Biggs, Alyson Hannigan and Seann William Scott. These films are perfect for friends or couples looking for more of a comedic touch this Valentine’s Day, as opposed to the usual chick flick festival. The best part is that these films are great for any gender and most ages!

The Bachelors – February 21

2017 American comedy-drama film The Bachelors stars J.K. Simmons as a widower that is set to move across the country with his teenage son for a new job. In the process, both men meet women that help them find a path back to happiness. The Bachelors is a wonderful movie with compelling characters and a feel-good ending.

Interestingly enough, the film was also planned out by director and screenwriter Kurt Voelker, who had very specific ideas. Voelker announced in 2015 that he would direct the comedy drama film based off his own script, and that J.K. Simmons would play the widower. Fortunately, Voelker was right in his casting choice – something you should definitely see for yourself!

Jeepers Creepers 3 – February 24

The Jeepers Creepers trilogy comes with a lot of backlash, mostly thanks to director Victor Salva who was convicted of sexual misconduct with a child back in 1988. Salva aside, Jeepers Creepers is an iconic horror film that many horror-buffs cherish. When Jeepers Creepers 3 was announced in 2006, everyone was waiting for its release with anticipation.

Unfortunately, they’d be waiting a very long time, as Jeepers Creepers 3 was not released until 11 years later, in 2017. The worst part was that the film was only released in certain theaters and only for a very limited time. Luckily, Netflix is releasing the horror film on February 24th for your viewing pleasure. Don’t get your hopes up too much though – the film came with a lot of controversy.

On the other hand, there’s only one way to find out if it lives up to your expectations!

Netflix Originals: Available Globally

Altered Carbon (Season 1) – February 2

Altered Carbon is a Netflix original series that was released on February 2, 2018. The series is based off a 2002 novel written by English author Richard K. Morgan. If TV shows set 350 years in the future catch your attention: Altered Carbon takes place in a futuristic dystopia in the year 2384.

Starring Joel Kinnaman and James Purefoy, Altered Carbon involves Kinnaman’s character helping to solve the murder of Purefoy’s character – with little choice in the matter. This series is a perfect way to pass time this Valentine’s Day, with ten action-packed episodes to keep you busy.

Greenhouse Academy (Season 2) – February 14

Greenhouse Academy’s second season is going to be released just in time for Valentine’s Day – the perfect excuse to leave your kids with a babysitter while you go out and enjoy the holiday with your significant other or friends! On the other hand, this series is also a great way to spend time with your kids without boring you to sleep.

Greenhouse Academy is based on Israel’s TV series The Greenhouse. The Netflix original was adapted for international audiences, but features similar themes to the Israeli version. The series revolves around a group of kids from rival school houses that uncover a plot to destroy the planet. Of course, the kids begin their own secret investigation in hopes of saving the world!

Everything Sucks! (Season 1) – February 16

Everything Sucks! is a Netflix original with coming-of-age themes and tons of comedy. The series is set in the mid-1990s and is basically a parody of teen culture during that time period. The series is set to feature ten 30-minute episodes and stars budding actresses and actors like Peyton Kennedy and Jahi Winston.

This series is not only perfect for kids to binge-watch on weekends, but also for parents that are looking to reminiscence on their own school days. We have high hopes for Everything Sucks! – hopefully we won’t be disappointed. If Netflix’s other original series are anything to go by, we definitely won’t be! Be sure to keep posted for its release on February 16th.
