Countries around the world will broadcast snippets of the Royal Wedding live, but there no better way to watch all of the action than by following the BBC’s official coverage of the momentous occasion.

The Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle is finally here! On Saturday, May 19, you will be able to join the many millions of people around the world tuning in to stream the Royal wedding live.

Streaming the Royal wedding: Step by Step Guide

Setting up a VPN to watch the royal wedding on BBC iPlayer (or any of the other channels) is very easy. Just follow these simple steps:

  1. Select a VPN for the Royal Wedding. To unblock the royal wedding we recommend VyprVPN because it is secure, fast, and has excellent UK and US servers. If you need a cheap VPN option, PrivateVPN is also fantastic.
  2. Click through to your favorite VPN’s website and subscribe.
  3. Download and install the VPN software. Remember to get the right version for your platform.
  4. Run the software and select OpenVPN encryption (recommended for privacy).
  5. Select a server based in the UK and click Connect.
  6. Navigate to BBC iPlayer, and sign up for the service using an email address. You may want to set up a throwaway email address for this purpose.
  7. That’s it! Your VPN workaround is set up and you are ready to watch the Royal wedding online for free.

Remember: iPlayer now requires people to sign up using a valid UK postcode. This means you will need to use Google to find a valid UK postcode. Or use this random postcode generator. You will need to agree that you have a UK TV license when prompted (everybody in the UK has to have a license to watch iPlayer).

Royal wedding live stream: FAQs

Why you need a VPN for the Royal wedding

A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is an online service that allows you to pretend to be in a different country. By pretending to be in the US or the UK, you can watch the Royal wedding for free – from anywhere!

Connect to a VPN server in the UK, and you will be able to immerse yourself in a completely traditional broadcast of the Royal wedding. Connect to a server in the US and you can watch the wedding from more of an “outsider’s perspective”. You will even be able to use a VPN to stream the Royal wedding with comedy presenters if you wish (more on this later!)

Considering live coverage of the wedding is going to last for five whole hours, it will probably be a good idea to use a VPN to flick between various different streams in your browser!

When is the Royal wedding and what is the schedule?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will get married at around midday on Saturday, 19 May. The run-up to the ceremony will include coverage of the arrival of Royals, celebrity friends of the Royal family, Prince Harry himself, and the former Suits star Meghan Markle and her friends and family.

The wedding will take place at St. George’s Chapel, a church sat in the lower ward of Windsor Castle. It is the same church where Harry was christened as a boy. Following the ceremony itself, Prince Harry and Meghan will travel through the borough of Windsor in a carriage.

The carriage will travel a special route past Castle Hill, High Street, Sheet Street, Kings Road, Albert Road, Long Walk, and back to Windsor Castle. That procession will happen between 1 pm and 2 pm BST.

At that time, the couple will retire to the reception in the castle and the official coverage will end.

Who will attend the Royal wedding?

It is believed around 1900 guests will be invited, though only 800 of them will actually be able to get in the church. However, they will be able to enjoy the grounds of Windsor Castle and the reception.

All three of Princess Diana’s siblings will attend – Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale, and Earl Spencer. Lady Jane Fellowes will give the reading.

Mel B announced on the US talk show “The Real” that all five of the Spice Girls are invited to the wedding.

It has since been revealed that they will also be performing a special comeback performance on the day! Anthony Joshua, the superstar British boxer, is invited as is the fashion designer Misha Nonoo who, it is rumored, set the royal couple up in the first place! Two of the prince’s ex-girlfriends –  Cressida Bonas and Chelsy Davy have been invited. No doubt all eyes will be on them – and their dresses – as they arrive!

What time can I watch the Royal wedding live?

Coverage of the Royal wedding gets underway at 9 am BST on the UK’s BBC ONE. Anybody located outside of the UK can use a VPN to stream the Royal wedding as soon as the broadcast begins.

In the US, wedding coverage will start at 4 am EST. If you intend to use a VPN to tune in and watch all five hours of wedding coverage on the BBC you will need to set your alarm!

Watch Royal wedding presented by Will Ferrell

For anybody who isn’t that interested in the Royal wedding, but is a huge fan of Will Ferrell, this show is going to be just the ticket!

The Royal Wedding Live with Cord and Tish! will be showing on HBO from 7:30 am ET. The famous comedy hosts, Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon, will present using their comedic alter egos from the Rose Bowl Parade. That means you can expect the Royal wedding coverage to be a truly unique experience.

Anybody wanting to watch The Royal Wedding Live with Cord and Tish! will need to use a VPN to pretend to be in the US. HBO Go/HBO Now is available via Sling TV, DirecTV, Playstation Vue, Roku, and Amazon Prime TV.

With a VPN, watching the Royal wedding online for free will be very easy. This is because the wedding is streaming on at least three channels for free. To watch any of those channels from outside the UK or the US, simply subscribe to a VPN service, connect to a server in the correct location, and navigate to your preferred stream of the royal wedding.

We believe the very best VPN for the Royal Wedding is VyprVPN. It is good value for money and has lightning fast servers in the UK and the US.

However, if you want to spend less, you can do so by opting for PrivateVPN – one of highly recommended cheap VPNs! PrivateVPN offers excellent value for money and appears on our best iPlayer VPNs page because it successfully unblocks iPlayer without any problems.
