Summary:

Ivacy has been around for a while but is quite a relatively unknown VPN. Check out my Ivacy review to see where this Singaporean VPN stands.

Pricing and Plans

Ivacy offers one plan, with pricing depending on the length of the plan. A standard month-to-month plan costs $11.95 a month, 12-month plans drop down to $2.50 a month (billed at $29.95), while a 24-month plan is only $1.66 monthly ($39.95 total).

While the standard month-to-month plan is on the expensive side, the steep discounts for long-term subscriptions make Ivacy one of the most affordable VPNs out there.

ivacy prices

There isn’t a free trial available to test out Ivacy, but there is a seven-day money-back guarantee available if you want to try out the service before committing. I’ll mention here in this Ivacy review that this money-back guarantee isn’t quite as clear as with other VPNs: you can only claim a refund from Ivacy if you’ve stayed under one GB of bandwidth.

You can pay for Ivacy in a number of ways. Paypal and all major credit cards are accepted, while Bitcoin is also an option through BitPay and CoinPayments. Cashu, Alipay, Yandex and other payment methods are also available through Paymentwall.

Features

Ivacy is a Singaporean company, which makes it a great option in terms of any government agencies requesting data. Singapore law does not require any logging of user activity, with personal data safe under the Personal Data Protection Commission.

Ivacy makes the interesting claim of being the first VPN to introduce “Split Tunneling,” a way of selecting which data gets sent through a VPN, in 2010. While I didn’t find any way of confirming this statement, Ivacy does have the handy split tunneling feature in the Ivacy Windows client.

ivacy split tunneling

Ivacy has an impressive global presence, with nearly 200+ servers in over 100 locations. There are even servers for countries like Brunei, Ghana, and Kuwait. Users can choose from specific servers for Netflix, HBO Go, torrenting, and more.

Ivacy allows up to five simultaneous connections to the service, which makes it an excellent VPN to share with a group of friends or with your family at home.

Extra features for Ivacy include the aforementioned split tunneling function, an internet kill switch, and IPv6 leak protection. I’ll mention these further on in this review.

Security and Privacy

Ivacy gives you the ability to choose from a number of protocols when connecting to a server: OpenVPN (UDP and TCP), PPTP, L2TP, and SSTP. However, the amount of OpenVPN locations (11 in total) is somewhat low when looking at the other protocols (75+ locations).

ivacy servers

Ivacy being a Singaporean company means it is in a great environment when it comes to privacy and data retention. While freedom of speech isn’t a bright spot in Singapore (thanks to the current ruling party), consumer data and the right to privacy are broadly respected.

Ivacy uses an AES-256-CBC cipher in combination with a standard RSA-2048 key for OpenVPN connections. These levels of encryption are more than sufficient for protecting yourself on the web.

Ivacy claims a strict no-logging policy and that connection logs expire after 48 hours. While it’s nearly impossible to confirm this with any VPN provider, it does seem that Ivacy stays true to this policy.

ivacy logging policy

P2P activity is allowed on Ivacy, with specific servers available for those looking to torrent or stream P2P content.

The Website

The Ivacy website follows the standard format for what seems to be every VPN provider’s website. Everything is nicely organized and concise, with a client area where you can manage your subscription once you sign up.

ivacy review

There is also an Ivacy blog with helpful guides and industry news related to cybersecurity and privacy.

Support

Ivacy offers customer support in the form of email, telephone, and live chat support. The number of support options is quite impressive, as most VPNs tend only to offer one method.

ivacy support

There are also a relatively large knowledge base and FAQ available should you have any general questions regarding Ivacy.

To get a better idea of Ivacy’s support, I sent a test ticket regarding claiming a refund to my Ivacy subscription. While I did receive a quick response (about five minutes!), the support rep was very difficult when it came to approving my refund request. Check out the image below for more details!

ivacy customer support

Ivacy is active on all the main social networks, including Twitter, Facebook, and Google Plus. You can also reach out them on these platforms if you need help in a pinch.

The Process

Signing Up

Signing up to Ivacy is extremely easy and a very quick process. All you need to do is select a plan, create an account with an email address and password,  and pay. That’s it! Once sign-up is complete, Ivacy will send you an order confirmation email detailing your purchase.

I have to add here how happy I am with the amount of payment options available for Ivacy. The ability to pay in Bitcoin is a welcome feature that can increase the level of anonymity when using a VPN.

The Ivacy Windows VPN Client

As part of this Ivacy review, I signed up for Ivacy and set up the Windows client to get a better idea of the service. Downloading and installing the 18.3 MB client was a breeze on Windows 8.1.

The client is extremely user-friendly, allowing you to choose your protocol and purpose (torrenting, streaming, general browsing, maximum encryption) to find an Ivacy server that is right for you. You can also view Ivacy’s complete server list to select a particular server.

ivacy windows client

Ivacy’s split tunneling feature is also built into the client, allowing you to individually assign applications to use your standard internet or VPN connection. I was also happy to see that Ivacy has an internet kill switch in the Windows client as well.

Performance

Connection speeds are one of the most important factors when considering a VPN. To get a better idea of how Ivacy measures up, I ran a few standard download and upload tests.

ivacy download speeds

ivacy upload speeds

The graphs show the highest, lowest and average speeds for each server and location. See our full speed test explanation for more detail.

As you can see, Ivacy gave me some pretty poor results when it came to speed, with some locations (especially the UK location) even dropping my internet connection entirely! If you are looking to do any streaming or downloading, you are better off looking elsewhere.

Ivacy did check out ok when it came to IP and DNS leak tests, although it is worth mentioning in this Ivacy review that they use DNS translation on all servers. You can read more about what DNS translation and DNS leaks are in this guide.

Other Platforms

Ivacy has software clients for Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS devices. While I was only able to test the Windows client, I was pleased with how user-friendly and feature-rich it is.

In addition to clients, Ivacy also has lots of set-up guides for consoles, routers, and other devices. Some examples include Xbox One, Roku, Kodi, and Linux.

Conclusion

I liked

  • No logging policy
  • Internet kill switch
  • Split tunneling feature
  • Five simultaneous connections
  • Bitcoin payment

I wasn’t so sure about

  • Refund policy
  • Month-to-month plan is expensive

I hated

  • Poor connection speeds

Ivacy is a solid enough service if you can get past the poor connection speeds. Streaming services such as Netflix, BBC iPlayer, and Hulu all encounter buffering issues when using Ivacy.

That being said, Ivacy is a decent enough budget alternative if you are looking for a solid level of privacy on the web. Additional features such as split tunneling and an internet kill switch could make Ivacy the right option for you. Give Ivacy a try with a seven-day money-back guarantee using the link below!

  1. So far it served its purpose. I was able to open the sites with regional restrictions. I’m just hoping to add mote countries,

  2. IVACY: Their Mac Software is feature limited. No split-tunneling, no OpenVPN Protocol, and no kill switch, for example. No ETA on when their upgraded Mac software will become available.

  3. I’ve now been using for over a week, allot of stuff as been made better on ivacy the speeds are allot faster with maybe only loosing a few meg also it all depends on what servers you connect through a few bugs here and but they will get ironed out. The chat support has been amazing and before you buy like everything else you do in life is read the small print regards to refunds etc. I’ve tested for leaks and IP dection works as a VPN should people also need to take into account the price it’s a hell of allot cheaper that the competitors. All in all I would recommend the product but if you have any questions ask their customer support team via chat they seem to be happy to help. Yes no kill switch on Mac and doesn’t work on a fire stick but will be released at some point I have been advised, also worst case scenario as it’s not the most expensive you loose $40 not the end of the world. It’s allot harder when your paying $$$$ more.

  4. i have OneVPN lifetime account and their servers are quite fast. allows p2p and built in free online ad blocker and anti malware. and yes guys, customer support is awesome and available 24/7 via live chat

  5. Every vpn has its haters but onevpn has been consistently good since i started using it over a year ago. I love my program OneVPN. I can connect to all over the world. and It’s also amazing deal on stack social lifetime 89% discount It helps me torrent with faster speeds and with no caps on data. Also lets me access sites in other countries. Definitely would recommend.

  6. Works pretty well. There were very few issues with the apps on the desktop which were resolved with really good quality customer support. Tested many servers and several protocols: all worked fine.

  7. I don’t know why they gave so many stars to Ivacy. Well… yes, incompetence.
    It is an useless VPN.

The first time that you are connected to a server it works, but if you lost the connection (it happens a lot of times) the kill switch doesn’t work, and when you reconnect to the same server or to another the application will say that you are connected, even it will give you your new ip, but if you go to ipleak.net you will find your real ip exposed directly. So if you want reconnect you have to restart your computer, in other case your real ip will be exposed. I don’t know why I have to restart, I guess because of their crappy app.

It’s a complete piece of field.

    Be careful with Ivacy.

  8. You forgot the lack of kill switch in the Mac OS client, which is also not programmed to Mac OS standards (connect button doesn’t work with “enter”). Speeds vary pretty much; I get up to 70 mbit, sometimes it’s lower than 10 mbit. Their servers are just not that much on the same speed as it is with some others VPN providers, but you can reach high speeds.

  9. Wish I’d seen this review before I paid… I can only hope I get a refund. Fastest server on Ivacy gave me barely 3Mbs. With my soon to exprire acct. on Ibvpn gives me over 125Mbs and it’s killswitch works.

  10. I have purchased the Lifetime Ivacy Subsciption through a 3rd party, So far i am very happy with it, Speed seems decent on all the servers i have tried to far. For the price i would recommend this service. The only negatives i noticed are that the members area/client area on their website basically has no options in it it basically just an empty page, also the email/password for your members area is the same that is used to login to the client, alot of VPN’s have separate username/pass for client. I have also noticed that not all the protocols work on all servers. But all in all i am happy with it.

  11. I also hate IVACY VPN because of the very slow speed and I can’t even establish a connection when I used a PPTP connection as I would primarily used the VPN connection to play online games on my Xbox One. Customer service is good but what I really paid for their service which is the license to use their VPN service and have quality results, isn’t. Me too paid for the double year plan which only costs less than $2 per month by using PayPal. At first it was very hard to tell and demand a refund to them as they will tell you that they should be a workaround to your problems (as cited by the editor/reviewer above of the BestVPN.com) but after they helped me and even used TeamViewer in assisting me to establish a PPTP connection on their San Francisco servers. It still doesn’t work!! They even left me hanging on the process. After that, I chat with their live support agent again to demand a refund… While she recognizes me and told me that if we did establish a connection on my desired server well I just calmly said no and told her that it isn’t SF servers that she connected to but it’s just a test server that quickly connected me to their VPN servers and that she doesn’t told me what to do next and left me hanging in the process. I then told my experience to their billing department through emailing and having a support ticket. At least I only get to send them 2 e-mails thru my support ticket and they cancelled my account and refunded back my money thru PayPal service. Only problem I have now is my bank doesn’t recognize the refund PayPal had made when I used my debit card when I bought thru them. I just have to contact my bank for that anyways.

The point is, if you’re not sure about buying something especially online either VPN services or any other stuffs online, be sure to check their review first and if you can get a free trial do it and try them before you are sure on buying them. And for me, I will not recommend IVACY VPN since I bought it and tried it but I just couldn’t get a connection. How can they even post in their IVACY VPN homepage that they have the best VPN service, PERIOD? It’s because for me it’s the complete opposite. And thru my experience, they have the WORST VPN service. Period that!

*REAL TRUSTED REVIEW OF IVACY AFTER BLACK FRIDAY 2016 DEAL*

I have to agree with Kim. I was looking for a new VPN as I previously used CyberGhost (which isn’t too bad but only lets you have 1 connection without buying a higher package which can be costly).
As it was Black Friday I was looking around for a good deal and I very thoroughly looked through the features, reviews and prices of dozens of VPN’s and came to my top 3 of NordVPN, IBVPN and Ivacy.
After trying a few (I couldn’t try Ivacy as it doesn’t have a Free Trial) I ended up biting the bullet and getting the Black Friday 2 Year Ivacy Deal, which was the cheapest out of the three at $32 for two years – bargain!

I downloaded the Ivacy Windows App –
The thing that I noticed the most is that the software is very fast to load and connect to servers. CyberGhost used to take 30-60 seconds to connect, and Ivacy took less than 5 seconds.
The design and layout of the software is very modern and the settings were easy to find. Within 10 seconds I was familiar with it and had set up extra settings for my preference.

I did a speedtest (Wifi) which showed 12MS and 12MB/s download for a UK server, which was slower than IBVPN when I trialled that, but the real test was browsing and streaming!
Web pages load quickly and I streamed a few different movies and videos in 720P and they did not stop to buffer once. (CyberGhost could never do that, it would always stop and start). Overall, I couldn’t tell that I even had a VPN on.

I downloaded the Ivacy Android App –
The App is just as good as the Windows VPN service, however what I love about Ivacy’s app is that unlike IBVPN’s App, you can close the App on your phone and the VPN will keep on running. (I hate leaving Apps open). Netflix, Youtube etc all loaded instantly and had no buffering. Using the internet was a breeze and didn’t slow down any loading at all.

    Customer Service –
I used the Online Chat to see how responsive Ivacy’s Customer Service are and Theodore answered immediatley and was very helpful when asking a few questions about their service.

One thing that I want to mention is that if you do get Ivacy, go into the Windows App, Choose Settings, and tick the boxes for “Switch to Secure DNS”, “IPv6 Leak Protection”, “Internet Kill Switch” and choose “High Security Mode” on “VPN Mode” to make the most of your privacy and security.

    GREAT EXPERIENCE SO FAR!

just bought it a few moments ago. The Windows App seems to be working well. The speeds are not bad either. I would say 4/5.
