The English Premier League (EPL) is the world’s most prestigious football competition, featuring the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool. Unfortunately, it can be extremely challenging to stream EPL games from home, especially if you are located outside the UK.

So, do you want to watch big EPL games this week like Tottenham v Manchester City? Let’s get started!

How to Watch the EPL

Watch The EPL With Sky or BTSport Abroad

Trying to watch EVERY Premier League Football match in a season can get expensive, especially in the UK where matches are divided up between Sky and BT Sports. Fortunately there is a way to get all the Premier League games on one service. If you follow the steps below you can access Premier League streaming services from all over the world, so you don’t have to miss a match, or pay over the odds to watch your team week-in, week-out.

Follow the steps below to get started with a VPN:

  1. Select a VPN from our best VPN services list, or simply sign up to the very best EPL VPN  ExpressVPN.
  2. Download and install the VPN software on your internet-connected device. ExpressVPN has software for all platforms and permits three simultaneous connections, so you can watch the football on your laptop, smartphone, and tablet.
  3. Connect to a VPN server (in the UK to unblock Sky Go or NOW TV, in New Zealand for Premier League Pass, and so forth). See below for full details of streams.
  4. Once connected, navigate to the streaming service of your choice (those options are featured later in this guide). The website will now be unblocked so that you can subscribe.
  5. Bravo! Thanks to your VPN you can pretend to be in another country, giving you access to EPL live streams.

Remember: Once you are connected to a reliable VPN, you also have digital privacy. That means your can pretend to be in a different country and your Internet Service Provider (ISP) has no clue what you’re doing online.

Watch EPL Without Sky or BTSport

Cheaper Alternatives

When it comes to watching the EPL, some methods are cheaper than others. Below you will find the very best ways to watch live Premier League streaming online.

First, however, let’s start with a list of the best broadcasters of the Premiership for the 2017/2018 season.

  • Australia: Fox Sports, Singtel’s “Optus Premier League”
  • Canada: Sportsnet Now
  • Denmark: TV3 Sport
  • India: Star Sports
  • Middle East: beIN Sports
  • New Zealand: Premier League Pass
  • South Africa: Super Sport
  • UK: Now TV, Sky Sports, BT Sports
  • USA: NBC Sports Live Extra

In theory, you can access streams by any of those broadcasters using a VPN to pretend to be in those countries. However, in practice some work out easier (and cheaper) than others. Let’s take a look!

Watch Premier League Football on Bein Sports

An incredibly cheap option for watching the Premier League online is using the Middle East-only service beIN Sports. To subscribe, connect to a server in the Middle East or North Africa (we recommend ExpressVPN for this, as it has the best servers in the area). Once connected, simply head over to the beIN website and subscribe.

The Top Sports package provides access to 14 HD sports channels that show EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga, Liga 1, and Champions League (as well as many other sports). For just $25 per month (£19.11), people from all over the world (including in the US and the UK) should consider thisincredibly cheap option!

Watch the Premier League wit Bein Sports
Even better: if you get a yearly subscription to beIN Connect, you can watch all 380 EPL games for just $180 per year. That works out at just $15 (£11.47) per month. An almost impossible price to beat!

Unblock EPL Outside New Zealand

Premier League Pass

People who live in New Zealand, Taiwan, and the Philippines get access to an Permier League streaming service called Premier League Pass. It is an excellent service and one of the cheapest ways to watch Premier League live streaming online.

If you want to watch it elsewhere in the world, you’ll need a VPN with a fast server in New Zealand or Taiwan. With a VPN for Premier League Pass, you can connect to a New Zealand or Taiwan server and pretend you’re there!

ExpressVPN is by far the best VPN for this job. It has a very reliable New Zealand and Taiwan servers that provide the fast connection speeds required to stream EPL in HD.

Live Stream The EPL in Australia

Fox Sports or Telco Singtel Optus

Another option for watching EPL is Fox Sports. Simply connect to a VPN server in Australia to unblock those HD streams.

Perhaps an even better option is to use Telco Singtel Optus’ EPL streaming service, “Optus Premier League.” It shows all 380 games live, and has features, panel shows, and a three-hour pause and rewind feature. In addition, it provides on-demand replay options and can be used on up to four devices at once. At $40 per month for the mobile option, and $80 per month for the broadband version, this isn’t the cheapest way to watch Premiership football – though it certainly is a comprehensive service.

How to Watch EPL from The US

Sling TV

If you want to watch US streams of EPL matches, with US commentary, then you need to connect to a US server to watch NBC Sports or ESPN. Sadly, those are both cable TV channels, so you’ll need a subscription.

The best way to watch those streams from outside the US is by using Sling TV’s Blue plan. The Blue plan costs $25 per month and provides access not only to Premiership football but to many other sports (and over 40 US cable channels in total).

Watch Sky or BTSport Abroad

Back in the day, if you wanted to watch the Premiership in the UK, you needed a Sky Sports subscription. Now, things have changed and there are a number of ways to watch EPL.

Watch EPL like a Brit

Watch The EPL With BT Sport Abroad

A full BT Sports subscription provides access to:

  • BT Sport 1
  • BT Sport 2
  • BT Sport 3
  • BT Sports ESPN
  • Box Nation

On that plan, soccer fans get to watch 42 live Premier League games per season. In addition, BT Sport has exclusive rights to air the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.

Unfortunately, BT Sports is only available online to BT broadband or Sky TV customers. You need to have one of those to access the online streams. If you have one of them, you can connect to a UK server and it will unblock BT Sports.

Unblock EPL on Sky Sports Abroad

A Full Sky Sports Subscription provides access to:

  • Sky Sports Main Event
  • Sky Sports Premier League
  • Sky Sports Football
  • Sky Sports Cricket
  • Sky Sports Golf
  • Sky Sports F1
  • Sky Sports Action
  • Sky Sports Arena
  • Sky Sports News
  • Sky Sports Mix

Sky Sports shows a jaw-dropping 126 live Premier League games each season. As such, this is the best way to watch EPL like a UK resident. To get a Sky Sports subscription, simply connect to a UK server and head over to its website to subscribe.

Alternatively, connect to a UK server and download the Sky Sports Mobile TV app. Plan 1 costs just £5.99 per month and will give you access (on a mobile device) to: Sky Sports Premier League, Sky Sports Action, Sky Sports Arena, Sky Sports News, and Sky News.

Stream EPL on NOW TV from Anywhere!

Another option is to watch Sky Sports premiership streams online using NOW TV. With NowTV you can stream just the matches that you are interested in using a daily pass!

To do so, connect to a UK server using your VPN. Next, head over to the NOW TV website to get a Sky Sports Pass. You can get daily, weekly, and monthly passes. Prices range from £6.99 for a day pass to £33.99 for a monthly pass.
Please note: Because the these three options are all UK based services, you will not have access to 3 o’clock kick-offs.

FAQs: How to Watch the Premier League

Why aren’t 3 o’clock matches shown in the UK?

In the UK, Football matches with kickoffs between 2.45 pm to 5.15 pm are “Closed-Period”  to protect grassroots football match attendance.

How can I watch 3 o’clock kickoffs?

To watch those matches, you will need to subscribe to a service outside of the UK where the closed period doesn’t apply. The next section of this article covers all the international services that stream EPL football. It is possible for people living in the UK to use a VPN to pretend to be in another country.

Can I Watch EPL Online Streaming for Free?

Although it isn’t as reliable as having a subscription (the feeds often drop out or suffer from buffering, and the quality isn’t as good), it is possible to watch Premiership matches online for free.

This is proven by the fact that the EPL has gained an injunction in the UK that forces ISPs to block servers that show pirated matches. According to the EPL, UK ISPs blocked around 5,000 free live streams of EPL matches in the last two months of the 2016 season alone.
For UK fans, the new court order means it’s harder than ever to find free live streams of matches. Sky, EE, Virgin, TalkTalk, and all other UK ISPs now have to actively block all Premiership streams as soon as they are discovered. As the injunction forces ISPs to block streams in real-time, it is likely that even if you do find a free stream of a match, it will be blocked during the match. This is likely to frustrate many UK football fans with a British IP address.

BestVPN.com does not condone copyright infringement. While we are aware that VPNs can be used to spoof your location to another country, and thus overcome geo-restrictions, their primary purpose is to provide you with online security and privacy. First and foremost, this is why we recommend using a VPN.

Can I watch EPL Football with Kodi?

Much like with free streams, the EPL court injunction also forces ISPs to block servers that provide free football streams on Kodi boxes. This means trying to watch Premier League Football games though Kodi will likely become a source of serious frustration for football fans with a UK IP address.

Why Get a VPN to Unblock EPL?

Not only does a VPN allow you to pretend to be in a different country, it provides encryption too. Most of the commercial VPN services on the market (there are over 850 in total) provide badly implemented encryption and have poor privacy policies.

The VPNs for EPL that we recommend here at BestVPN.com, on the other hand, have been carefully selected because they have excellent privacy policies and military grade encryption.

Our recommended EPL VPNs provide the necessary digital privacy for you to be able to watch any EPL streaming from anywhere in the world. With those sorts of privacy levels, you truly can have the peace of mind to watch EPL wherever you want without necessarily having a BT Sport or Sky subscription.

How to Watch EPL While on Vacation

An EPL VPN is also useful if you’re going on holiday and want to use your subscription to watch EPL while you’re away. No matter what your needs are, or where you live, a VPN is the best solution for watching EPL. Simply connect to a server in the location you want to pretend to be in, then access your subscription like a local resident would.

Do your research. Fox Sports AU lost rights to EPL 2 years ago. Telco SingTel Optus run an EPL web-streaming service called, imaginatively, “Optus Premier League”. All 380 games live, features, panel shows, 3-hour pause and rewind, replays on-demand. Up to 4 devices at once. Unmetered, unlimited data when on “Home” device. Run from app *or* browser.

  3. Victor says:

I tried to subscribe to beIN Sports, but seems that the $25 package is not for online, it’s for cable.

The beIN Connect, I’m not sure if it’s an additional cost to pay on top of the subscriptions to access it through the computer, or it gives you access without subscribing to the cable package.

Sorry to bother, you which is the best route to this year’s F1? Preferably from Sky.
