Watching Game of Thrones Online can be difficult, we know!
But don’t worry, even if you’re looking to watch it outside of the US, there is a way to unblock Game of Thrones, so that you can watch it without any loss of streaming quality or having to go on one of those shady video websites.
As one of the most popular TV shows of our generation with an average 9.5 IMDB rating, we know you must be desperate to watch it, so just follow the simple steps below.
When is Game of Thrones Season 6 on?
Season six of GoT started airing on the 24th of April, and it will go on, every Saturday, until episode 10 on the 26th of June, for what is likely to be a huge season finale! Episode one “The Red Women” already has everyone excited, and we can agree that it will be another incredible season!
So, what’s the best way to watch Game of Thrones online?
Well, as the show is produced by US network HBO, let’s start with HBO’s services. Thankfully, there are ways to access these from anywhere, even though you should technically be located in the USA to do so.
If you’re in the USA and subscribe to HBO, you have new Games of Thrones episodes at your fingertips, both live and via HBO Go. You can also watch complete seasons using the HBO Now streaming service.
You can also stream it in the UK on Sky Atlantic and Showcase in Australia.
Is Game of Thrones on Netflix?
Unfortunately, no! While Netflix would love to get their hands on this fantastic programme, HBO knows it has a superb thing on its hands, and there is no likely way they will let go of it. This helps them create a stronger viewer base and of course makes more sense financially.
So what happens if you’re not in the right place when you want to watch Game of Thrones online?
Watch Games of Thrones Online from Anywhere
The answer lies with a service called a VPN, such as Buffered – and you’ll find several recommended services in a table below.
What a virtual private network (VPN) does, is it routes your Internet access via a series of servers that shield your physical location, so that streaming sites “think” you’re in the right country to access them.
This means, for example, that you can use services like HBO Now, and Sky Go to watch Game of Thrones outside the US. Furthermore, VPN services can give you access to Amazon Prime (which sells Game of Thrones episodes, but not the latest ones) if you cannot access them from where you are.
So how can I watch Game of Thrones?
Here’s what we suggest you do:
1. Subscribe to a VPN service: Simply choose one of the providers on the table below or just click here to get Buffered, the most recommended one. There is a 30-day money back guarantee on offer so you don’t even need to worry about losing any money if you don’t like it.
2. Set up your VPN connection: Once you’ve signed up
3. Decide what service to use to watch Game of Thrones: HBO Now should be your first choice, but you will need a subscription. If you have connections with the USA and an address, this should be easy. If you don’t, you can usually fake it using the following method:
For many online US services, you can use your credit card as long as the ZIP code matches.
When required to enter your billing address enter the street address as per normal. For the ZIP code, city and state follow these steps:
1) Take the digits of your current postcode, for example, GU12 4RQ -> 124
2) Add zeros to the end until you have a five-digit number -> 12400
3) Check if it exists using the USPS Zip code tool
4) If it doesn’t, add 1 to the end until it does. In our case 12401.
5) For the City and State insert the results from the tool. In our case Kingston, NY.
If you have access to a UK Sky Go account, you can also watch the season 6 of Game of Thrones there
You can also “pay as you go” for episodes using Amazon Instant Video or Google Play Store.
Whichever method you choose, a VPN service will enable you to bypass the region locks, and use the service of your choice as if you were in the “correct” country.
HBO has been known to disable the HBO Now accounts of people using them in breach of their terms and conditions. If this is the service you choose to use, please check these Ts and Cs thoroughly!

Game of Thrones: The Basics
In case you’re not sure what Game of Thrones is (unlikely), here is the essential breakdown.
Game of Thrones follows the lives of six great families in the mythical land of Westeros. All of these are battling for power in some form or another. Shot through with influences from British history, the epic series is packed with violence, dragons and nudity. This is not viewing for the faint hearted, or young children!
From the vast, icy wastes of the North to the lush farmlands and desert of Dorne in the South, the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros are the playground in which the wealthy and powerful families battle for personal gain. Central characters drop like flies, so don’t get too attached to anyone – the good, the bad and the ugly all suffer at the hands of their enemies as the series progresses. There are many online jokes and memes about this.
The plot centres around the Iron Throne. When King Robert Baratheon dies, and his son Joffrey shortly follows suit, the Seven Kingdoms are thrown into turmoil as claims to the throne come from all directions. Rightful heirs are called into question when it is revealed that King Robert’s children are not his children, but the product of an incestuous relationship between his wife and her brother. War erupts and families have to make difficult choices, many turning on their kin in pursuit of the Iron Throne.
And then there is Daenerys Targaryen, the actual rightful heir, who is half a world away and battling to return to her homeland. Sold to a horse lord as his wife when little more than a girl, she grows to amass not just a powerful army, but the only three living dragons known to the world. Betrayal and pain cross her path frequently though, and her desire to return to Westeros to reclaim the Iron Throne seems thwarted at every turn.
As a background to all of this, there is the Night’s Watch, stationed in the far North to defend the magical Wall, built in the distant past to keep out the mysterious (and deliciously evil) White Walkers. Manned by rapists, thieves and vagabonds, along with the odd unlucky nobleman, the Wall is the last bastion of hope for the survival of the Seven Kingdoms. Unfortunately, with all the warring and whore-mongering going on elsewhere, it seems that the majority of the great families have forgotten about it, or simply don’t care. But as the White Walkers gather their army of the dead on the other side of the Wall, it seems that the whole of Westeros will soon be looking to the Night’s Watch for their salvation.
Even if you’ve read the books, we’d recommend that you watch Game of Thrones online from the start if you’ve not seen it before. The plot is complicated and doesn’t always follow the books precisely!
