Attention tennis fans! The 2017 US Open is now live from New York City. As this tournament will be the final grand slam of 2017 (and the only grand slam that takes place in the US), the US Open guarantees an exciting atmosphere and some great tennis matches.

Some of the world’s best tennis players will look to end the calendar year with a bang, especially with the next grand slam (the Australian Open) not coming around until the end of January 2018.

Do you want to watch Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Venus Williams, and more of tennis’s top stars battle it out for US Open glory? If so, let me show you how to watch the 2017 US Open live, from anywhere in the world!

2017 US Open: Need to Know

2017 US Open Tennis Tournament

When Is It?

The 2017 US Open runs from Monday 28 August to Sunday 10 September. Most rounds and matches start between 11:00 and 13:00 EDT, while the latter stages and a handful of matches start between 16:00 and 19:00 EDT.

An 11:00 start on the east coast translates to 16:00 for UK tennis fans looking to tune in to the action, with afternoon matches getting underway between 21:00 and 0:00 BST. Viewers in Australia are looking at a rather unfortunate 01:00 start time for the afternoon matches, with the evening matches in the much more slot between 06:00 and 09:00 AEST.

How Can I Watch Us Open Live Streams?

YouTube TV: Seven-day Free Trial!

YouTube TV is a new streaming service that is currently being tested in a number of US cities. Available in places like Chicago, Washington DC, Boston, and Los Angeles, YouTube TV allows you to pay a flat rate to stream live TV, with ESPN and ESPN2 included! This is great news for tennis fans, as these channels will be broadcasting the US Open matches.

The other great thing about YouTube TV is that you can currently try it out for yourself with a seven-day free trial. You only need a Google account (and relevant payment details) to sign up!

The one issue that most people will have with YouTube TV is that is currently only available in a handful of US cities. Those outside of these select cities can use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to stream the US Open!

Sling TV: Seven-day Free Trial!

Sling TV is another online streaming service that allows you to stream the US Open online. Starting at $20 a month (Sling Orange), you get access to a number of channels, including the main channels of the US Open: ESPN and ESPN 2. Another great thing about Sling TV is that new customers get a seven-day free trial!

Unfortunately, Sling TV is only available in the US. Luckily, a VPN service can help anyone unblock Sling TV, from anywhere in the world! Follow my step-by-step instructions on how to use a VPN to watch Sling TV!

Free Tennis Streams Subreddit: Warning!

For those out there who truly don’t want to spend a cent when watching the US Open, the best option (although we don’t encourage it) is to check out the Tennis Streams Subreddit for any free streams of the matches. Links to streams are usually posted an hour before the match is scheduled to start.

I must mention that using Reddit as a viewing method is risky business, especially when factoring in the legal and security risks associated with these streams.

Simply put, watching these streams could expose your PC to a deadly mix of malware and indestructible advertisements. You could also find yourself in trouble with legal authorities for watching a copyrighted stream. Use a VPN to protect yourself and your digital privacy today!

How to Watch a US Open Online Live Stream with a VPN

  1. Choose from our best VPN services list, or sign straight up to my personal favorite, ExpressVPN.
  2. Install the VPN software on your internet-connected device (check with the VPN provider to make sure your device is supported!).
  3. Select one of the streaming options I’ve highlighted above and sign up.
  4. Connect to a VPN server that is in a country where your streaming service is available (a US server is needed for YouTube TV and Sling TV).
  5. Those wanting to access YouTube TV should select a VPN server in Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Washington DC, or Seattle.
  6. Once connected, go to the streaming service you’ve selected and sign up. All done? Then you are all set to start streaming the US Open!

2017 US Open Tennis: What You Need to Know

Perhaps the biggest news about this year’s tournament is who won’t be participating. Last year’s finalists, Novak Djokovic and Stan Wawrinka, withdrew from the tournament due to injury. On the women’s side, Serena Williams won’t be in action due to her pregnancy.

Even with some of the stars missing, the tournament will be highly competitive, with the likes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Andy Murray all taking part. Some new blood also has a chance to shine, with youngsters Alexander Zverev, Darian King, and Frances Tiafoe all looking to make a name for themselves.

Where Is It?

The 2017 US Open is being held on the outdoor courts at the Billie Jean King Tennis Center in New York City. The two main courts – Arthur Ashe Stadium and The GrandStand – will host the biggest matches, including the semifinals and finals.

The entire event is broadcast under an 11-year, $825 million contract with ESPN, which gives the broadcaster exclusive rights to the US Open.
