We are excited to announce our first move out of the digital realm and into the realm of physical hardware, with our hands-on review of two very different pre-flashed DD-WRT routers from FlashRouters.
This is particularly important to us as good reviews of routers, especially after they have been flashed with DD-WRT, are very difficult to come by, making offering good recommendations without hands-on experience very difficult.
The Cisco Linksys N300 v2 (E1200)
These two routers (and we hope to carry on bringing you reviews of more routers as resources become available) represent completely different ends of the spectrum when it comes to router capabilities, with the very Linksys N300 v2 being Flashhrouter’s cheapest model, and the fully featured Asus RT-AC66U being their most popular one.
What both routers (and indeed all routers that we may review in the future) have in common is that they allow you to connect all your internet enabled devices using VPN. Not only does that mean everyone in your office or household gains the benefit of using VPN, without individual setup being required, but also that devices which do not normally connect to the internet (such a smart TVs, games consoles, feature phones, and the like) can also connect using VPN.

In addition to this, no matter how many devices connect though a VPN router, it counts as just one simultaneous connection as far as your VPN provider is concerned, which is fantastic, as most providers are very strict on this point.
