2017-2018 NBA Season

When Does the NBA Regular Season Start?

The 2017-2018 NBA season runs from 17 October 2017 to 11 April 2018. The regular season is followed by the playoffs, from 14 April to 28 May, and is wrapped up with the NBA finals from 31 May to 17 June.

How Can I Watch NBA Basketball Online?

NBA League Pass: Multiple plans available!

NBA League Pass is the best way to watch live NBA games from anywhere in the world. You can stream on your PC, smartphone, or tablet. It also supports Roku and Chromecast. New users can choose from three different monthly League Pass plans, starting at $17.99 a month.

League Pass prices differ depending on where you are. For example, the plan that costs $17.99 in the US is only $8.99 when you sign up to League Pass from Europe! Those in the US looking to save a few bucks by signing up to the European League Pass will need to use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to access the cheaper plan.

Another issue with NBA League Pass is that, depending on where you live, you could be hit with blackouts for certain regional and nationally televised games. Luckily, you can bypass these silly blackout restrictions and watch live NBA games by using a VPN to change your device’s location to another region or country.

Sling TV: Seven-day Free Trial!

Sling TV is another online streaming service. It allows you to stream NBA games via the “Sports Extra” package. Starting at $20 a month (plus an extra $5 a month for the “Sports Extra” package), you get access to several channels, including: NBA TV, ESPN, and ESPN 2. Another great thing about Sling TV is that new customers get a seven-day free trial! This means you can sign up and watch NBA games for free!

Unfortunately, Sling TV is only available in the US. Luckily, a VPN service can help you unblock Sling TV from anywhere in the world! Follow my step-by-step instructions on how to use a VPN to watch Sling TV!

NBA Streams Subreddit: Stream NBA Basketball for Free!

For those looking for a free way to watch NBA basketball, the best option (although I don’t encourage this one!) is to check out the NBA Streams Subreddit for free streams of all the games. Links to streams are usually posted an hour before they start.

I must mention that using these free Reddit streams as a viewing method is risky business, especially when factoring in the legal and security risks associated with them.

Simply put, watching these streams could expose your PC to a deadly mix of malware and indestructible adverts. You could also find yourself in trouble with legal authorities for watching a copyrighted stream. Use a VPN to protect yourself and your digital privacy today! does not condone copyright infringement. While we are aware that VPNs can be used to spoof your location to another country, and thus overcome geo-restrictions, their primary purpose is to provide you with online security and privacy. First and foremost, this is why we recommend using a VPN.

How to Watch an NBA Live Stream with a VPN

    1. Choose from our best VPN services list, or sign straight up to my personal favorite, ExpressVPN.
    2. Install the VPN software on your internet-connected device (check with the VPN provider to make sure your device is supported!).
    3. Select one of the streaming options I’ve highlighted above and sign up.
    4. Connect to a VPN server in a country or city fitting your requirements.
    5. Those wanting to bypass NBA blackouts should select a VPN server in a city close to where the game is being played.
    6. Once connected, go to the streaming service you’ve selected and sign up or log in. Done? Then you’re all set to start streaming NBA basketball!

Avoid NBA Blackouts with a VPN

If you’re trying to stream an NBA game, blackout restrictions could stop you from watching your favorite team. Blackouts occur when a specific region or city doesn’t have the broadcasting rights for a particular game.

Luckily, you can skip blackout restrictions on NBA games with a VPN. Using a VPN can give you a new IP address, in an area where the game isn’t under blackout. Simply follow my instructions to find an IP address in a city where the game is being broadcast!
