Unblock Sling TV- Watch US TV Online From Anywhere!

This article will tell you exactly how to unblock Sling TV – but first let’s discuss why you would want to do this.

I don’t have to go into much detail about why television in the US is the best in the world. One simply has to remember the numerous sports events (such as the World Series or NYC Marathon), weekly blockbusters from Hollywood, or insanely popular shows like The Walking Dead or Game of Thrones.

Unfortunately, if you find yourself traveling or currently reside outside of the US, accessing US television can be difficult due to various copyright laws and geo-restrictions. Luckily, there is a great solution to this. Using Sling TV in combination with a VPN will allow you to watch US TV from anywhere in the world!

What is Sling TV?

So, what exactly is Sling TV, and why have you perhaps never heard of it before?

Simply put, Sling TV is a new cord-cutting service (similar to Netflix and Hulu) provided by Dish Network. Dish Network is one of the biggest TV providers in the US, with over 14 million US households enjoying Dish’s satellite television service.

Subscribers to Sling TV get access to channels like ESPN, AMC, USA, The History Channel, and much more. There are also various extra channel packages to choose from, with the basic “Sling Orange” plan starting at $20 a month for 30 channels.

Sling TV is also great for watching on different devices, with apps for iOS, Android, Mac, and much more. I’ll mention these further down.

How to unblock Sling TV

Unfortunately, the big downside to Sling TV is the fact that you have to be located in the US in order to use the service. Those looking to access Sling TV’s service outside of the US will be blocked. This is where some of the benefits of a VPN come into play.

A VPN allows you to tunnel into a target country, making it appear as though you are actually physically located in that country. In this case, connecting to a US VPN server from any of the providers I’ve mentioned below will make it seem as if you are in the US!

Take a look at my step-by-step guide to unblock Sling TV!

Unblock Sling TV with these 7 simple steps!

  • Sign up for a VPN. Check out one of the VPNs I’ve mentioned below or just head on over to the best VPN to unblock Sling TV, Buffered, to get started right away.
  • Download and install the VPN client on your device.
  • Find and connect to a US VPN server closest to your actual location. If you are in Europe, I would recommend an East Coast server for the best speeds. Those living in Australia or Asia will be better off with a West Coast location.
  • Head on over to Sling TV. If you’ve done everything correctly up to this point, the Sling TV website should be completely unblocked!
  • Sign up with an e-mail address and password and select your desired subscription to Sling TV.
  • Complete the payment fields to complete the registration process.
  • Download Sling TV for your desired device and start streaming US television!

Keep in mind that streaming video content such as Sling TV will require a fairly good Internet connection. Additionally, using a VPN such as Buffered that doesn’t skimp when it comes to speeds will make sure that you don’t run into any problems when trying to watch Sling TV.

Please note that this article is for informational purposes only. If you are not a US resident, you may wish to check you are not breaching Sling TV’s terms and conditions.

IPVanish

4.5/5

IPVanish

  • ProsPROS
  • Fast US speeds
  • Strong encryption
  • Seven-day money back guarantee
  • ConsCONS
  • Based in US

IPVanish is another great option for unblocking and streaming video content. You are given access to over 500 VPN servers, along with user-friendly apps for just about every device. IPVanish also actively prevents Deep Packet Inspection, which is one of the ways ISPs can restrict or lower your connection speed.

IPVanish is located in the US, which isn’t great for those looking to avoid shady US data laws. Nonetheless, IPVanish is still a great VPN for streaming content. Try the service out for yourself using the link below.

NordVPN

4/5

NordVPN

  • ProsPROS
  • Great privacy features
  • Three-day free trial available
  • Killswitch included
  • ConsCONS
  • Double encryption not recommended for streaming

NordVPN is a VPN I tend to recommend when someone is looking for a high level of online security. Features like double encryption, a VPN client killswitch, and support for Tor over VPN are all reasons why NordVPN is awesome at keeping you safe online.

It is worth noting that those looking to unblock Sling TV or stream other media will probably want to turn double encryption off, as this can significantly slow down your connection. Try out NordVPN for yourself by taking advantage of a three-day free trial today!

VPNArea

  • ProsPROS
  • VPN killswitch included
  • Up to six simultaneous connections

VPNArea might come last on this list, but they are still an excellent VPN to unblock Sling TV. Subscribers can connect up to six devices simultaneously, while a dedicated IP option allows you to essentially rent your own, private VPN server.

VPNArea’s only downside is having slightly higher than average prices for monthly plans. Take advantage of the risk-free, seven-day money back guarantee, and try out VPNArea for yourself!

    1. Hi Fred,

Is that an Alaska zip code? If so, then yes, you should be able to get a Sling TV no problem. The only issue (especially for many places in Alaska) is that because Sling TV streams content over the internet, you need a good fast internet connection for a seamless buffering-free experience.

  1. do I need to be hooked up to any special boxes to use this. I just have regular tv. No antenna no comcast or direct tv
