5 Best Huawei VPN Services that work in 2018

If you own a Huawei router, you may well be interested in protecting yourself with a Virtual Private Network (VPN). As well as providing privacy and security, a Huawei VPN can allow you to unblock content from all over the world. However, for the vast majority of people, the best way to run a Huawei router VPN is not actually by connecting to the VPN with the router.

The reason for this is that the most popular and affordable Huawei routers don’t have a built in VPN client. Nevertheless, you can still protect your devices by installing VPN software directly onto them. What’s more, the VPNs in this guide all allow multiple simultaneous connections (some up to five!). So, you don’t need to worry about having more than one device that you want to protect with a VPN.

A Huawei VPN will need to run on your PC, laptop, tablet, or smartphone because most Huawei routers do not have a built in VPN client. Using a VPN, Huawei router owners will still be able to get the protection they desire for their data. In addition, they will be able to unblock geo-restricted content from around the world and overcome censorship imposed by local governments and Internet Service Providers (ISPs).

In this article, we explain what a VPN is, why some VPNs are better than others, and what you can do with a VPN. What’s more, the VPNs in this guide have been carefully selected because, if you do happen to have a Huawei VPN that can connect to a VPN (I couldn't spot any but it is conceivable), these will all be compatible and will allow you to connect to their servers using the router's built in client.

What Is a VPN for Huawei?

As previously mentioned, it is rare to find a Huawei router with a built in VPN client. For this reason, most people will actually need to install the VPN on their devices (laptop, PC, smartphone and/or tablet). A VPN allows people to unblock content by pretending to be in a different country. It also allows them to overcome all manner of restrictions imposed by landlords, workplaces, schools, ISPs, and the government.

If you have a Huawei router and wish to protect your devices with a VPN, simply follow these simple steps:

  1. Decide on a VPN for your devices. The best all round VPN is ExpressVPN, as it has servers all over the world and provides fast connections.
  2. Click through and subscribe to your favorite VPN.
  3. Download and install the VPN on your devices. Remember to get the right VPN software for each device.
  4. Run the software and log in to your VPN with the username and password.
  5. Select a server and click Connect.

That's it! Your device is now connected to the VPN directly, so you don’t need to worry about having a Huawei router VPN.

What Can I Do with a VPN?

Even though a Huawei VPN isn’t going to run on your router, it will still give you all the same benefits. It will make all your data secure as it comes and goes from your device, protecting it from snooping governments and ISPs. In addition, by connecting to a remote location you can access foreign services, including TV streams, sports competitions, and much more.

Digital Privacy

The reliable VPNs in this guide all provide OpenVPN encryption. That means that all your data will be securely scrambled and inaccessible. The result is digital privacy for all your web browsing and internet traffic

I Want to Connect to a VPN with a Router!

If this is a concern to you, you'll probably need to buy a new router. Please take a look at our VPN routers guide for some options of routers that can be purchased flashed with Tomato or DD-WRT firmware.

Conclusion

If you came here searching for Huawei b593 VPN, Huawei e5186 VPN, or Huawei hg659 VPN, the bad news is that you can’t actually connect to a VPN directly with one of those routers. The good news is that it doesn’t matter because any of the VPNs in this guide can be installed directly onto your devices instead, to protect them individually.

These VPNs are reliable, fast and trusted. They also have excellent privacy policies and provide strong encryption. So if you want a VPN - look no further - these are the best VPNs to protect your devices and unblock content from all over the world!

When I log in to the Huawei B528s, there is a form to fill in for an L2TP VPN. We need a VPN on the router itself so we can connect our PS3 to it and pretend to be in UK rather than France where we live. Your article says we can't configure a VPN on the router itself but then why is there a data entry form for VPN configuration on the box? Any thoughts?

Hi Steve, As Ray notes in the article, "the most popular and affordable Huawei routers don’t have a built in VPN client." If yours does, then yay! You can indeed use it to do as you wish.
