Best VPN Reddit - Overview

1. Mullvad

BestVPN.com Score 9.8 out of 10

Summary

This service is generally recommended the most and complained about the least on Reddit. It is admired by VPN users all over the world, because it is considered a secure service that can be trusted. Reddit users also praise its 3 day free trial. Mullvad is agreed to have strong encryption and is liked because of its comparatively minimal relationship with affiliate websites. Here at BestVPN.com, we love Mullvad because it is a great service that did extremely well in our recent industry-standard VPN Awards in Las Vegas.

2. PrivateInternetAccess

BestVPN.com Score 9.6 out of 10

Summary

Private Internet Access VPN is a US based service that is highly recommended on Reddit. This is somewhat unexpected considering that PIA is a US based service. Despite this, PIA is recommended time and time again by Reddit users who enjoy the service due to its feature packed easy to use clients, and zero logs policy. The good news, is that PIA has proven its no logs policy in court. On the downside, a few Reddit users complain about PIA’s slower connection speeds. You can give this service a try thanks to its 30-day money back guarantee.

3. ExpressVPN

BestVPN.com Score 9.2 out of 10

Summary

This VPN, which is based in the British Virgin Islands, is recommended often by Reddit users. People praise it for being able to unblock Netflix US and for working within China. The VPN has a zero-logs policy, and people tend to like the VPN client for ease of use and features. However, it does receive some complaints too. Some people claim it fails to unblock certain websites. On the whole, however, it would appear that Reddit users look favorably on this highly-subscribed VPN.

4. AirVPN

BestVPN.com Score 9 out of 10

Summary

AirVPN is one of the most privacy-conscious VPNs in the world, and for this reason it is no surprise that it appears fairly regularly in Reddit VPN recommendation megathreads. When Air is mentioned on Reddit it is nearly always because of a recommendation and not because of a complaint (which is rare). AirVPN won the Best VPN for Privacy award for the second time running at our industry standard VPN Awards in Las Vegas; so we agree with Reddit users and can definitely recommend it for privacy. However, if lightning fast speeds for streaming are wanted you may want to look elsewhere.

Reddit users like its zero-logs policy, and trust the VPN to protect their data. Definitely worth a try if you are specifically looking for a free VPN. However, some people do complain that Proton isn’t great for streaming and leaves them wanting for more.

Very happy PIA user with zero plans on leaving. That said, I just looked over Mullvad and was left quite impressed. Their support for Linux (deb, rpm, full-featured GUI) really surprised me. The GUI features built into their Linux app appear top-notch (from kill switches, notifications, ease-of-use, accessibility). Also, I crawled through their site and oddly enough did not find a custom Android App. Apparently they use OpenVPN and so installing/setup is just a tad more involved. Seems a little odd, tbh, not having an Android plug-n-play solution at this point but that's a miner quibble. Their faqs are pretty awesome.
