VPN services have exploded in popularity. As with most important security measures, though, VPN’s require you to shell out some cash. Therefore, they also require some trust in the service provider. Sometimes it may be hard to make a decision up front without experiencing the service. To help with this daunting task of choosing a quality service, we have chosen five VPN services that provide you with a 100 percent satisfaction money-back guarantee.

The Best VPNs with a Money-Back Guarantee

  1. ExpressVPN Special Deal: Save 49% Today!
  2. IPVanish
  3. NordVPN
  4. Buffered
  5. VPNArea

If money-back guarantees still don’t quite make the cut, we’ve previously discussed services that offer free trials and free (but limited) VPN’s. While there are VPN’s available free of charge, with no apparent limitations on speed or bandwidth usage, we do not suggest this route. These services need to make money somehow, and if you’re not paying with money, then you’re likely paying with your privacy.

BestVPN Editor's Choice Award
PROS:
  • Special Deal: Save 49% Today!
  • Three simultaneous connections allowed
  • Super customer support
  • High-level protection
CONS:
  • Not a lot

ExpressVPN is one of the best VPN companies out there. As expected from number one on the list, ExpressVPN’s speeds are impressively fast, and they allow for up to three simultaneous connections. And for those times when the connection is questionable, you can enable an automatic kill switch to target and close any application should the connection become insecure. The company keeps connection logs, but usage no recording of usage logs happens. The company headquarters is in the British Virgin Islands (classified as a territory), so the policies concerning government surveillance are hazy at best. The prices from ExpressVPN are some of the highest we’ve seen. Although paying per year as opposed to per month will save you over 35%. They also have a generous referral program, granting 30 days free for every referral that signs up with the company. To top it off, there is a 30-day money-back guarantee, no questions asked.

2nd Place

IPVanish

PROS:
  • Five connections at once!
  • High encryption suit
  • Plenty of protection tools
  • P2P allowed
CONS:
  • Slightly pricey but worth the value
  • US based

IPVanish allows for five simultaneous connections on multiple devices, perfect for the employee with four different work phones. There’s the kill switch feature, in the case of VPN disconnection. The VPN service operates from the United States, which concerns some users given the NSA’s track record. The company does keep connection logs, which they are legally obligated to turn over if asked by a law enforcement agency. IPVanish is more affordable than its number one competitor, at only ten dollars a month or 78 dollars a year. They are also running a 25 percent off summer promotion, which I’ll personally be taking advantage of. They have a seven-day money-back guarantee, so take a week to try it out and see if it’s worth the moolah.

3rd Place

NordVPN

PROS:
  • Based outside of 14 eyes
  • Packed with technology
  • Great value for money
CONS:
  • Can be slightly slow

NordVPN allows for six simultaneous connections, the most of any provider we’ll discuss. There is a kill switch option, which has become pretty common recently. They also offer Tor over VPN, which can potentially provide the best of both worlds.  You can read more about that here. NordVPN also gives the option of a double VPN, although this could hurt your speeds and is a bit over the top in everyday scenarios. The company itself operates under the jurisdiction of Panama, who boasts a complete lack of data retention laws, making it the perfect place for a VPN service. If you’re still concerned, NordVPN doesn’t keep any logs; usage or connection. The service starts at eight bucks a month but is running a seemingly endless promotion for 48 dollars a year. That’s pretty unbeatable. There’s also a 30-day money-back guarantee, as long as you let tech support try and help you with any issues first. As a bonus incentive, they a have a referral system, and you can even apply to become an affiliate to earn money promoting the service.

4th Place

Buffered

PROS:
  • Based in Hungary
  • Allows P2P
  • Discovery function helps overcome blocks
CONS:
  • Minor connection logs kept

Buffered is a new VPN out of Hungary. Connection logs are kept, as discussed previously in regards to IPVanish and ExpressVPN. Buffered has expanded their usability as well, now allowing for five simultaneous connections (previously three). The ‘Discovery’ function helps you break the firewalls of password protected wifi (like in hotels). Notably, they do not offer a kill switch. As far as price goes, they drive right down the middle of the road. The VPN service does offer a 30-day money-back guarantee, but it’s a bit deceptive. A user can only claim the refund if they’ve used the service less than ten hours and used less than ten gigabytes of data. It’s not an entirely unreasonable condition, but it’d be nice if they were more forthcoming about it.

5th Place

VPNArea

PROS:
  • Fantastic customer support service
  • Helps unblock Netflix and BBC iPlayer
  • Great set of protection services
CONS:
  • Servers can be buggy
  • Could do with a visual improvement

VPNArea’s headquarter servers are based in Switzerland, but the company itself is located in Varna, Bulgaria. Client software shows the number of users online for any given server, allowing you to assess the potential traffic and speeds. VPNArea also offers the kill switch option we discussed under NordVPN. On a per month basis, the service gets somewhat pricey at $9.90 a month. Pay per year, and it gets slashed to 59 dollars (a bit less than five bucks a month). There is a seven-day refund period, and the company website boasts never refusing a single refund. VPNArea’s customer service, while not 24/7, is some of the friendliest around, and genuinely willing to help.

VPN Money Back Guarantee Considerations

In 2015, 25 percent of VPN users started using a VPN service on a daily basis. They’re useful in a number of situations, from protecting your privacy to securing your Wi-Fi connections. They also allow you to appear as if somewhere else, which is essential for circumventing geographical internet restrictions

How do I cancel my VPN subscription?

Whether you signed up to one of the above companies or not, canceling your VPN subscription should be easy.

In most cases, you will need to send their support service an email but others do have automated systems. You will then receive your money-back guarantee very quickly.

You should always bear in mind the small print. For example, PureVPN, as we explain below, is one to avoid! Others, such as VikingVPN, will give you your money-back if you let them try and solve your problem. ExpressVPN is the best VPN with a money-back guarantee because there is no small print!

PureVPN Money-back Guarantee – one to avoid!

While money-back guarantees seem like a standard practice in most web-based service industries, it’s almost never as simple as it sounds. Take the example of PureVPN. On the surface, they seem like an entirely reputable company. The website landing page is professional and informative, there’s 24/7 chat support, and they have prominent endorsements proudly displayed.

Delving deeper, though, you’ll find this isn’t the case. The seven-day money-back guarantee is virtually worthless, and there’s an increasing stack of user reviews saying that they can’t reclaim their money from the hopelessly unhelpful customer support. You can read about our horrifying experience with that here.

Money-Back Guarantee VPN Services Summary

When legitimate, VPN money-back guarantees are a great way to test the quality for yourself. All the VPNs here are reputable and you’ll have no issues getting your money back in case of problems. So why not try one of them today?!
