How to Watch 24: Legacy Online from Anywhere

If the popularity of its predecessor 24 is anything to go by, then 24: Legacy is bound to stir up a lot of interest. The exciting new show, which is said to be both gripping and breathtaking, will premiere on 5 February 2017, on FOX. If you want to watch 24: Legacy from outside the US (and you do, because it looks insanely good!), you are going to need a VPN service.

VPNs allow subscribers to ‘spoof’ their location to overseas. That means that by connecting to a server in the US, anyone can appear to have an IP address that is in the USA. The result is that anybody – anywhere – can watch 24: Legacy online on Fox.

The problem is that there are hundreds of VPNs on the market, many of which provide extremely slow connection speeds. Thus instead of watching the awesome new 24-inspired show, you will be sat around waiting for it to buffer.

For that reason, to unblock 24: Legacy we recommend that you subscribe to ExpressVPN. The reason? It has the very best network of servers, providing you with the fastest speeds available to watch 24: Legacy online.

In addition, ExpressVPN provides state of the art military grade encryption. This will keep you secure as you spoof your location overseas. Of course, if you prefer to have a few more options, feel free to check out our 5 Best VPN services article to compare the VPN market.

Unblock 24: Legacy Setup Guide

Getting to watch 24: Legacy online couldn’t be easier. Just follow these simple steps:

  • Subscribe to your preferred VPN to unblock 24: Legacy. To watch 24: Legacy, we recommend ExpressVPN. It has outstanding US servers for streaming the show in HD quality. However, any of the world-class services in our best five article will do the job brilliantly.
  • Download the VPN software from the VPN provider’s website. ExpressVPN has custom apps for all platforms and will let you install the VPN on three devices. That means you can watch 24:Legacy on any Android, iOS, Mac OS X, or Windows device.
  • Select OpenVPN encryption from the VPN’s menu. Geo-restricted content is blocked due to copyright restrictions. That is why you should get a reputable VPN with a strong privacy policy. All of the VPNs recommended in this guide are extremely reliable. They are at the top of the privacy game in 2017.
  • Connect to US server. To watch 24: Legacy you need to pretend to be in the US (or the UK for the 15 February premiere). Depending on where you live, connect to a US server on the west or east coast. By selecting a server that is closer to you, you will get better speeds for watching the action in HD.
  • You have now successfully spoofed your location to the US. Now go to the website where you intend to watch 24: Legacy on Fox. The best places to do this are discussed later in the guide.

Why Watch 24: Legacy Online First?

The long awaited spin-off of the hit TV show 24 is finally about to air. Everyone is saying that the show is mind-blowingly good. Kiefer Sutherland may be gone, but the famous ticking clock remains. The show’s new protagonist, Corey Hawkins, is more than prepared to battle against the iconic countdown sound.

The premise of the show remains unchanged. Each episode is an hour-long thrill of action. The show promises to deliver just as many heart-stopping moments as 24 used to. Actor Jimmy Smits, who stars as the character John Donovan, describes the show as:

“It’s the iconic 24, love, suspense, and action, in a new environment with different characters”

Executive producer Howard Gordon is quick to remind people that you don’t need to have watched 24 to enjoy 24: Legacy:

“There is no previous knowledge of 24 required to get into the story.”

Some people may be disappointed that the Jack Bauer character won’t be involved. However, rumors of a cameo appearance appear to be exactly that, with Sutherland saying, “there are absolutely no plans.”

What is encouraging, however, is that Sutherland has read the plot for the pilot episode and confirmed it’s “really cool”. He commented that he would gladly be “the first to see it.” If you want to join Kiefer Sutherland and be one of the first to watch the show when it premieres, a VPN really is the best answer.

The Plot

The story follows a character called Eric Carter. He is a war hero who has just returned to the US after defeating the terrorist leader Sheik Ibrahim Bin-Khalid. Sadly for Carter, trouble follows him back to the United States. He is forced to appeal to the Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) to assist him in dealing with what could be the biggest terrorist attack in history on US soil.

Miranda Otto plays Rebecca Ingram, who used to be the head of the CTU that Carter seeks to revive. The high-octane series sees Carter and his ex-army comrades dealing with being assassination targets themselves – this time on US soil. As usual, the story unfolds in the real-time narration style for which it is famous.

Where to Watch 24: Legacy Online

24: Legacy is a Fox Broadcasting Company show that will premiere on 5 February in the US and 15 February in the UK (also on Fox). In order to watch the show live from other locations, you will need to use a VPN to access those geo-restricted Fox streams. In addition, you will need a pay-per-view TV provider. To watch Fox live with a provider, simply subscribe to the VPN of your choice, then visit the Fox website.

While you do need to have a US TV provider to watch Fox live, the good news is that Fox TV shows become available to all US viewers either one or eight days after they air. In addition, everyone is allowed a 60-minute ‘Preview Pass.’

Fox says on its website:

Certain episodes of shows on FOX.com or the FOX NOW app require a participating pay TV provider account (for more info, visit http://fox.tv/no-provider). All current season episodes on FXNetworks.com and NationalGeographic.com and the Nat Geo TV app require a pay TV provider. If this is your first time visiting our service, our Preview Pass feature allows you to access 60 minutes of an episode that would be otherwise locked.

“As an example, without a participating TV provider account, new episodes of Empire become available after an 8-day delay, and are available the day after they air with a TV provider. If this is your first time visiting our site, however, you can watch a full episode of Empire before that 8 day delay period ends.

“During the episode, you will see a countdown box displaying how much Preview Pass time is left and you will be given an option to log in with a participating pay-TV provider.”

Preview Pass Blackout?

With that in mind, a Preview Pass should be enough to allow you to watch the first episode of 24: Legacy live. In addition, I tested using two different dedicated IP addresses on two different days, and did manage to get another Preview Pass (I had to clear my cookies to do so). Please bear in mind that Fox could subject the actual premiere of 24: Legacy to a Preview Pass blackout. In that case you might have to wait until 6 February to watch it, even with a preview pass.

Sling TV

If you are intent on watching the premiere live, Fox is also viewable through Sling TV. It is an awesome pay-per-view TV service that is US-only. To watch Fox on Sling TV, simply connect to a US server and get a Sling TV account. It offers a seven-day free trial, so you won’t actually have to pay for Sling to watch the live premiere of 24: Legacy. Furthermore, Sling TV is a no contract service and is available on a month by month basis starting at just $20. That means that you can subscribe to Sling TV just to watch 24: Legacy and then quit again.

For those of you who prefer to wait until 15 February to watch the UK premiere, simply head on over to the UK Fox website.
